STEM Curiosity Academy
A fun and exiting, hands-on experience for STEM topics!
(STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
Saturday School’s Curiosity Academy is our popular STEM program for students in Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8. Students learn grade-level appropriate concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, while also developing skills in creativity and teamwork.
WHAT STUDENTS LEARN / PROJECTS
Grades 3-5 Water, Water Everywhere: Designing Water Filters
An introduction to the problem of water pollution—and to the solutions. Students will investigate the properties of filter materials, then think like engineers to apply their knowledge as they plan, construct, test, and improve their own water filters.
Grades 6-8 Go Fish: Engineering Prosthetic Tails
Middle school students will plan and design prosthetic devices that could replace animal body parts — such as a fish tail, a model leg for an elephant, or the beak for an eagle.
